I’m wondering if anyone has any knowledge on a specific situation me and my partner are in.
We have recently bought a flat which is share of freehold. The vendor happens to be the landlord and has an “unoccupied” building insurance policy active. We are paying part of the cost through our rent etc. Now what confuses me the most is the fact that the flat (with us living there) is now technically occupied. Would this mean the policy needs amending and is no longer valid?
To add to this with some additional information, the building has another 2 flats which are also being sold by the same person. These are in fact currently unoccupied.
The reason we are looking into this is we had a leak from a shower which caused us to have to call a plumber and rip tiles out of the shower to fix it after 4 days (terrible luck). The damage was caused by a faulty shower valve but so far we have had to cover the costs..
