Car Insurance & Comparison Sites

Has anyone else experienced an insurance company contacting you after you have signed up for the insurance and paid the initial premium and basically saying “we know you have looked at other sites and put in different information, so now your premium will be higher”!! I used all 3 comparison sites and obviously did put in different information including making monthly payments as opposed to annual; including a named driver and then removing them; the length of time that I had my licence had been understated by myself; I originally thought that I had a speeding fine, but then found out that it had expired so changed that. They said because of the inaccuracies I would have to pay extra premium.

The premium still ended up being cheaper than my renewal quote, but I didn’t like the fact that they were able to check with other sites that I had asked for quotes – does this mean that in future it will affect prices?
