Car Insurance Excess & NCD

[ad_1]

A couple of weeks ago I was hit by an unlicensed and uninsured driver who unfortunately wrote my car off. I am with Tesco Insurance and they quickly paid me out but minus my excess and my NCD is now put on hold too.

I got a crime reference number as the driver disappeared off into the sunset although we did eventually find the driver and the passenger after a witness found them parked up a few streets away. To cut a long story short, there was insurance on the other car as it belongs to the passenger’s father. I believe that they have not informed their insurance company (Allianz) that there has been an incident. Fortunately I have a dash cam which clearly shows the accident not to be my fault. I sent this to my insurance company.

The police have been to interview the driver and he admits everything, he had been at court only 4 weeks prior to this incident and had his provisional license taken off him for also driving with no insurance. He obviously hasn’t learnt anything from this!

My question is, how long do I need to wait to get my excess back? My insurance company are pursuing the other insurance company but I haven’t heard anything further about this. I am also concerned about my NCD. My insurance will be needing to be renewed in a few weeks time. Will my premiums increase?

Sorry for so many questions but I have never had to deal with anything like this before.

Thank you.
