Halifax CC Question – MoneySavingExpert.com Forums

Morning MoneySavers!

I have a direct debit to pay the minimum amount of my Halifax Credit Card just to ensure I never miss a payment, and am now wanting to start making extra payments as and when I’m able to.

I just did a payment and it advised the below:

We will put today’s one-off payment towards paying your Direct Debit amount. This means that your next Direct Debit payment will be less or zero – depending on how much you’ve paid today.

Does anyone know of a way around this? If I can pay off an extra £5 or £10 here and there I’d like it to actually pay the debt off rather than minimise my existing direct debit!

Thanks for any help!
