More than 5m people switched on to Amazon’s TV series to watch shows such as The Grand Tour, figures from the internet giant show.
It had about 26m viewers watching its Prime Video service in the US, according to leaked documents and some 75m people are thought to be Prime subscribers worldwide – still well short of the 118m reported by rival Netflix.

Amazon sees its video service as an ideal way to draw in viewers who can then become shoppers on its website.
It has spent a staggering £4billion a year on original and licensed content and is rumoured to have shelled out more than £700million for a Lord of the Rings TV series.
Amazon declined to comment.
