I need a little advice. I have a HSBC credit card and I normally make the minimum or just over payment each month.
I just tried on the phone to pay £40 (minimum was £38) to a telephone assistant and she said because I am making the payment from a non-HSBC debit card (I was paying from my Monzo account) that I could ONLY pay the minimum and not more.
This seems ludicrous and totally against the ideals of a credit cards – being its essentially a loan you pay back when you want, providing you meet the minimum payments each month – you can pay off more if you wish to.
I told her to forget to entire payment and put the phone down. Surely they cannot put these restrictions on customers on how much they wish to pay? Advice please.
