For dog-lovers who want to pamper their pets while they travel, Land Rover has launched a new range of canine accessories – including a portable shower and mobile kennel.
And your pooch doesn’t actually have to be called Rover to enjoy the add-ons designed to leave man’s best friend in the lap of paw-by-paw luxury whether on or off the road.
The Pet Packs, costing from £360.37, include accessories such as a spill-resistant water bowl, an access ramp, a foldable mobile pet carrier kennel, a specially tailored quilted load space liner to protect against paw prints and a portable shower system to get rid of the muck after muddy walks.
It’s a dog’s life: Land Rover has launched a new range of accessories for its cars – but they’re not for the owner to enjoy; it’s for their canine friends
The new accessories are being launched ahead of International Dog Appreciation Day on Sunday 26 August and take account of the fact that nearly half of all Land Rover and Range Rover owners are also dog owners.
That’s roughly double the rate of UK households owning a dog, which stands at around a quarter (26 per cent).
The portable shower – or ‘rinse’ – system holds up to 6.5-litres of water and delivers up to five minutes of continuous flow depending on which of the five spray settings is being used.
A spokesman for the British car brand said: ‘It is ideal for washing your pet or rinsing off wetsuits or muddy bikes.’
The foldable pet access ramp is perfect for helping older or smaller dogs into the rear load space without the need to lift them and is capable of supporting up to 85kg – which is the average weight of a man.
The ramp features aluminium side panels and a plastic centre section with a high grip tread pattern and rubber feet to prevent it from slipping.

It’s designed for owners who take their dogs on long walks through the countryside and want to wash the dirt off before letting them in their £50,000 SUV
The foldable pet carrier kennel provides a safe and comfortable way for dogs to travel once they are inside the vehicle.
It features a lightweight metal frame, quilted fabric cushion and net windows and is available alongside the 350ml spill-resistant water bowl.
Land Rover explained: ‘The bowl’s practical design features a large lip and anti-slip rubber base to prevent water from escaping on everything but the roughest terrain.’
Finally, the premium quilted load space liner is designed to protect the floor, rear seat backs and side wall carpets from muddy paw prints.
The standard Pet Transportation Pack costs £360.37 and includes the carrier, water bowl and load space rubber mat.
The Pet Load Space Protection Pack is more expensive at £482, but you also get the quilted load space liner and full-height luggage partition.
But the comprehensive Pet Care and Access Pack – which costs an eye-watering £887.56 – adds the ramp and shower system.

Anti-spill bowls mean your dog can quench his or her thirst while your driving along without the contents going over the boot carpet
The ramp system is part of the most expensive pack, which costs almost £900
Land Rover’s product marketing director Finbar McFall: ‘Land Rover is all about enjoying the great outdoors and that goes hand-in-hand with dog ownership for many customers.
‘Our customers told us that the comfort of their dogs on car journeys is crucial. They are part of the family and we recognise that.
‘Our new Pet Packs will allow dogs to travel in real comfort and make journeys simpler and more relaxing for animals and at the same time protect the inside of owners’ vehicles.’
The new Land Rover pet accessories are available for the Discovery Sport, Discovery, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover models.

The British car maker says it has created the pack because nearly half of all Land Rover and Range Rover owners are also dog owners – which is almost double the national average
In June Mazda’s £24,368 CX-5 SUV has been crowned the most dog-friendly car by What Car? magazine.
A panel of readers conducted ‘real world’ trials considering the size and accessibility of the boot, interior air-flow, and durability of the interior.
Land Rover’s Discovery was among five other short-listed cars including the Suzuki Vitara, Skoda Octavia Estate, Skoda Superb Estate, and Mercedes E-Class Estate.
Nathalie Ingham, canine behaviourist and training manager at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, said: ‘Not all dogs enjoy travelling – just like humans, some can get frightened or even car sick, so it’s worth taking time to make sure your car is a familiar and cosy place for them.’
