my mum passed away in january 2018, she took out a small life insurance policy in february 2017. They are now saying that because mum didn’t tell them she had help regarding a drink problem in 2015 that they are not going to pay out. Her policy is for £10,000 and was only to cover her funeral costs. She took out the policy over the telephone with an independent sales advisor. I have no idea if they asked her this question and the insurance company are saying they did.
My mum was in denial about ever having a drink problem with us as a family and herself. She was honest with insurance company about her depression and even if asked by a doctor would not say yes i have a drink problem. The assessor is taking the decision before the internal panel but believes the decision will be a non payment. Is there anything that i can do?
