My debit card details were stolen onliine, will cancelling it stop transactions?

Not sure if this is the place to ask but I had my debit card details stolen online and the culprit used these details to subscribe me to numerous bogus sites and was doing so continuously every couple of days, resulting in numerous transactions made online. I went onto the websites listed in my bank statement and all led to a third party handling the transaction of money to the website, I requested refunds and appear to have received them. New transactions kept happening so I contacted my bank and asked to deactivate the card and get a new one, should this stop them from making transactions with the old card information in the future?
