The miserably cold start to the year has put plenty of smiles on faces at Pimlico Plumbers.
Sales for the first quarter of 2018 at the UK’s largest independent plumbers jumped 22 per cent to £10.8million, putting the firm on target for an annual turnover of £40million.
The cold weather system dubbed the ‘Beast from the East’ contributed to the company doing £4million of jobs in March alone.
Plum month: Pimlico Plumbers did £4million of work in March
The London-based firm, founded by Charlie Mullins in 1979, employs 280 plumbing, heating and home services engineers, with the top 10 per cent taking home £180,000 to £220,000 a year.
Mullins, who last year picked up a £3.8million dividend, is in talks with outsiders looking to invest in the fast-growing firm.
He said ‘unseasonably cold and wet weather’ was only part of the success story, as his company had been on an ‘aggressive expansion drive’.
