I have recently been contacted by an insurance company (via the Dept of Work and Pensions) who think I may have an unclaimed Life Assurance policy with them which is due to mature. As I took it out almost 30 years ago I had forgotten all about it. However, along with other personal details (eg Nat Ins Number, DOB, previous addresses), they are asking for the policy number and I believe I have thrown away the documentation. Will this prevent me from being able to claim my lost policy? Or will they have enough info to establish my identity?
